The fifth season consists of 10 episodes, which are approximately 22 minutes each. Not every episode can be a masterpiece, but compared to, say, “Raising Gazorpazorp,” an early episode which explores similar themes, this one was definitely a dud - let’s hope it's the worst of the season. ‘Rick and Morty’ season 5 episode 4 premieres on July 11, 2021, at 11 pm EST, on Adult Swim. And it’s easy to dismiss something that is quite flagrantly not trying to be anything beyond the lowest common denominator. As Morty’s mutated sperm race to the Grand Canyon, in an effort to fulfill their impregnating instincts, a race of cannibalistic horse-people randomly show up, revealing yet another consequence. This season seems to be showing a softer, more vulnerable side to Rick - when he’s not being brutally beaten, he’s attempting to make connections with others, and failing hard. The shotgun-spray approach to comedy in Rick and Morty season 5, episode 4 is guaranteed to have a few misses.
The adventure concludes with Rick committing to being a father, only to realize that horse-people don’t experience childhood.
